The Rockford Files television series was produced by Roy Huggins and Stephen Cannell, and was mainly about the main protagonist, Jim Rockford, and his father's adventures. The Rockford Files premiered on the NBC Television Network on the 13th of September 1974, and ran for 6 seasons until the 10th of January 1980. It ran for a total of 122 episodes, as well as 8 additional made-for-television movies.

The main reasons for the Rockford Files' cancellation was the health of the lead actor James Garner. He insisted on doing most of his own stunts, and this resulted in bad knees and a bad back as the years went by.
